Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Invention Village ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our AI-powered patent assistance platform.

Patent Application Truthfulness and Prohibited Use

When you use this platform to draft or organize technical documents, you must meet the following truthfulness obligations. You represent that all input is based on real R&D activity, and you are independently responsible for the truthfulness of the content.

  • You must not use this platform to fabricate, forge, or alter invention content, experimental data, or technical effects, or to plagiarize, trivially substitute, or patch together prior art; nor to file a patent application that is not based on genuine R&D or whose content is randomly generated. Such conduct may constitute an improper (abnormal) patent application.
  • This platform is an assistive drafting tool. The software itself provides no representation service and files nothing: running a tool here never submits an application to any patent office, and nothing here guarantees grant. Filing and prosecution always require a separate written engagement, which names the entity that will act, what it will and will not do, and the fees. Where the law of the destination country reserves representation to a registered practitioner, that engagement must be with one.
  • Every concrete parameter, material, model number, performance value, and experimental datum in the output marked “to be verified” must be verified by you before use; you are responsible for the truthfulness of the content you adopt.
  • All consequences arising from a breach of these truthfulness obligations (rejection, credit-record entry, serious-dishonesty listing, clawback of subsidies, referral to judicial authorities, etc.) are borne by you. This platform reserves the right to suspend service for non-compliant use.

This platform delivers an assistive document that faithfully expresses your real R&D — not a promise to pass patent examination. Whether a patent is granted depends on your invention itself.

Cross-Border Processing and Overseas Sub-Processors

To provide AI analysis and generation, the technical content you submit is processed by overseas AI service providers, and for service reliability the data may be briefly retained overseas. We disclose this as follows; by continuing to use the service you acknowledge and agree.

  • The overseas AI sub-processors involved in processing technical content include Google (Gemini, US), Alibaba Cloud DashScope (Qwen, Singapore), OpenRouter (US, fallback), and document-conversion/OCR sub-processors (e.g., Google Vision US, CloudConvert EU). These sub-processors handle data under their respective API terms, solely to fulfill your requested processing.
  • To support reconnect/resume and result export, in-flight data may be briefly retained on overseas servers (e.g., caches for about 24 hours, temporary files for about 2 hours) and is then cleared automatically. Tool results are saved to your run history for later viewing: paid runs are kept long-term, free runs are kept for 90 days, and runs filed under an R&D project are kept for as long as the project is; you can delete individual entries at any time. If you use R&D projects, the verification results you record are stored with the project: to keep the record auditable, an individual verification entry cannot be edited or deleted on its own once written (to correct one, you add a new entry noting which entry it supersedes), but you can delete an entire project at any time.
  • The above processing involves transferring data abroad. You have the right to be informed and to exercise your statutory rights over personal information (contact details in this policy). If you do not agree to such cross-border processing, please do not submit the relevant content.
  • Do not submit content involving state secrets, national defense, national security, or export-controlled technology. Before filing abroad a patent for an invention completed in China, you must carry out a confidentiality (foreign-filing) review as required by applicable law; the related compliance obligations are yours.

We continuously assess and seek to minimize the scope of cross-border data; if a domestic-processing option becomes available, we will notify you separately.

AI Data Processing & Model Training

Your documents are not used for AI model training. We access all AI services through paid API interfaces, which by their terms of service do not use customer data for model training or improvement.

We use the following AI service providers to process your documents:

  • Google Gemini API (Primary): Used for patent analysis, drafting, review, and translation. Data is processed via the paid Gemini API and is not used for training Google's models per their API Terms of Service
  • Alibaba Cloud DashScope / Qwen (Secondary): Used for OCR processing and CJK language translations via the paid DashScope API. Data is not used for model training per their service terms.
  • OpenRouter (Fallback): Used as a fallback router for accessing additional AI models (Claude, Kimi). Paid API usage; data is not used for training.

All data transmitted to these AI services is encrypted via TLS/SSL. Documents are processed in real time and are not permanently stored by the AI service providers after processing is complete.

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it by law.

Mobile App (Smart Patent Pro)

Our mobile app, Smart Patent Pro, is a client for this same service. In addition to everything described above, the mobile app involves the following:

  • In-app purchases & payment processing: Smart Patent Pro offers auto-renewable subscriptions (Lite, Standard, and Pro tiers, billed monthly or annually) you can buy inside the app; each tier grants monthly credits that refill automatically and carry over for 90 days. Purchases are processed by Apple In-App Purchase (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android), and purchase validation and credit fulfillment are handled by our purchases provider, RevenueCat. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; you manage or cancel them in your Apple Account or Google Play settings. The app never receives or stores your card or other payment-instrument details — that information stays with Apple or Google. We receive only what is needed to grant your credits and keep your balance and transaction history (for example, the product purchased and a purchase identifier). New accounts receive 25 free starter credits.
  • Push notifications: If you enable notifications, the app registers a push notification token with Apple Push Notification service (APNs) or Firebase Cloud Messaging / Google services. We use this token only to send you notifications related to the app. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
  • Camera and photos: With your permission, the app can use your camera to capture, and your photo library / files to select, patent documents and drawings for processing. Access is requested only when you choose to add a document or image, and the content is used solely to produce the result you requested.
  • Device language: The app reads your device language / locale to display the interface in your preferred language and to localize generated output. This preference is used only to operate the app's localization.
  • Third-party AI processors: To generate drafts, screening signals, and translations, the documents, images, and text you submit are sent to third-party AI model providers acting as our processors: Google (Gemini), Alibaba Cloud (Qwen / DashScope), and OpenRouter. We send only what is needed to run the requested tool. These providers process the content under their respective terms; we do not use your content to serve third-party advertising and we do not sell your data.
  • Data deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting [email protected].

Smart Patent Pro's tools are AI assistants that produce drafts, first-pass screening, and qualitative signals. They do not constitute legal advice and do not guarantee patentability, grant, validity, or non-infringement, and they do not predict success rates. Output should be reviewed by a qualified patent attorney or agent before you rely on it.
