How multi-country filing works

PCT national phase vs. Paris Convention

The PCT route delays national-phase entry to 30/31 months and covers 150+ states. The Paris route needs direct filing within 12 months (6 for designs) and is required for non-PCT jurisdictions.

Foreign-filing secrecy review

An invention or utility model made in China generally needs a foreign-filing secrecy review before filing abroad. We flag this in the quote.

What the estimate covers

Each estimate breaks out official fees, translation (from page count) and local agent fees. Post-grant renewals are noted separately and excluded from the total.

Frequently asked questions

What does this quote include?

It estimates the government (official) fees, translation cost and the local agent fee to file a patent in each country you select — either via the PCT national phase or a direct Paris Convention filing.

Is this a binding quote?

No. All figures are estimates for budgeting. Official fees follow each office's current schedule and the final invoice depends on your case, claims, pages and entity size. We show a data-verification date and clear disclaimers.

PCT national phase vs. Paris Convention — which do I use?

The PCT route lets you delay national-phase entry to 30/31 months from the priority date across 150+ member states. The Paris Convention route requires direct national filing within 12 months (6 for designs) and is the only option for non-PCT jurisdictions such as Taiwan and Argentina.

Where do the fee figures come from?

Official fees come from WIPO's PCT Applicant's Guide national chapters and each office's fee schedule; agent and translation costs are cross-checked against public law-firm and vendor estimates.

Do you cover utility models and designs?

Yes for invention patents. Utility models and designs are covered for major markets; long-tail jurisdictions are estimated for invention filings only.

Why do some European countries say "via EPO"?

For many European countries the national route under the PCT is closed, so PCT applicants enter via the EPO. We flag those and you can add the EPO as a destination.

Do I need an account?

No login is required and the quote is free. If you want a firm quote or to start a filing, leave your contact details and our team follows up.

How are deadlines calculated?

Enter your earliest priority date and the calculator shows each destination's deadline and days remaining, and greys out routes whose priority period has already passed.
