Jack Zhu

PRC-qualified patent practitioner and lawyer

Founder of Invention Village Ltd (UK) and founding partner of Beijing Guanhequan Law Firm. After twenty years in patent prosecution and litigation, he set the rules this product will not break.

Why I built this

I have spent twenty years in patent prosecution and litigation. I have seen plenty of good technology written up badly, and plenty of applications reporting experiments nobody ran. The first costs the inventor. The second comes back at examination or in court.

I built this so R&D teams can sort out, check and write down what they actually did before they brief a professional. So I gave it a few rules: it does not invent data, it does not promise a grant, and its citations must be checkable against the source. Its job is to express your real R&D faithfully.

— Jack Zhu

The rules he set for the product

  1. When drafting, it does not invent experimental data or effects. A value with no source in your disclosure is replaced with a blank and listed for you to check.
  2. Patents and legal provisions it cites are checked against their source; anything that cannot be checked is flagged.
  3. It does not promise a grant.
  4. It does not file anything with a patent office on your behalf.
  5. What it produces are R&D records and drafts, to be reviewed by a registered patent practitioner before filing.

These rules are enforced by automated checks, and AI can still get things wrong. He does not review individual outputs, and nothing the product produces is legal advice.
